‘Not safe for work’ is used to describe internet content generally considered inappropriate for the typical workplace.
In June 2017, artist Georgia O’Reilly, Theo Gilmour-Rees and Matt Woodham spent Monday 5th – Friday 9th June in a disused Dell Office at Oakwood Court in Sherwood Business Park. For their 9-5 residency, they experimented with office supplies in an empty space, documenting and recording what took place. They are currently making a film of the footage, which they will show as part of an upcoming NSFW exhibition.
Drawing similarities between ‘artists’ and ‘office workers’, the ‘art world’ and ‘office world’, from the aesthetic similarities to common activities and goals.
Celebrating the absurdity between the parallels and contrasts both of these work environments.
Unravelling the emotion and attitudes towards work through topics such as procrastination and escapism.
Discussing the changes of the workplace within the office as well as within the studio – addressing the desire for sustainability for both companies and artists.
