One Thoresby Street have been offering an award for the Nottingham Castle Open since 2012. Adam Grüning was our selected artist from the Nottingham Castle Open in 2014.
Adam has undertaken 3 week residency at One Thoresby Street working towards a solo presentation in the ATTIC. Grüning’s practice uses a range of approaches and mediums, engaging with ideas of existence, language and value. Centred around ideas of contemporary experience, through playful, sometimes witty arrangements of objects, scripted environments and appropriated imagery. Offering new research developed from the One Thoresby Street residency; ‘TOUCH’ exhibits recent developments in Grüning’s work towards image and masculinity.
Recent exhibitions include New Art West Midlands 2015, Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery and Sheets Still Orange From Your Spray Tan, Paradise Projects, Leicester.
This event was part of the Attic programme, an Arts Concil funded project, run by Candice Jacobs from 2013-2014 and Rebecca Ounstead from 2014-2015.
